Fewell needs shared leave
Raymond Fewell, Housing and Residence Life, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Friday, May 18.

Reminder: Protecting minors at UNC Charlotte
In compliance with University Policy 716, UNC Charlotte requires all adults working with children under the age of 18 in University-offered programs to complete a background check and a “Minors on Campus” online training module, including a new video produced by the Office of Risk Management and Insurance.
Michigan’s Jill Huerta to head Center for Graduate Life
Jill Huerta will become director of the Center for Graduate Life effective Monday, July 2. She will assume the overall responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the center, which is an initiative of the UNC Charlotte Graduate School.

Football season tickets for employees now on sale
Faculty and staff members have the opportunity to purchase general admission season tickets for $60. This includes all six home games at a savings of $40 off the regular price. Spouses and family members are eligible for this special, too.

University’s RecycleMania results show improvement
The 2018 RecycleMania competition results are in, and UNC Charlotte’s showing indicates improvement in sustainable practices across campus. More than 200 colleges and universities participated in this annual competition, which ran from Feb. 4 through March 31.

Aliaga-Buchenau receives International Education Faculty Award
Ana-Isabel Aliaga-Buchenau, associate professor of German, is the 2018 recipient of the International Education Faculty Award. The honor was presented at the 24th annual UNC Charlotte International Education Celebration, held in the Atkins Library Halton Reading Room.
Aliaga-Buchenau, also associate chair of the Department of Languages and Culture Studies, has been a UNC Charlotte faculty member since 2002. During her tenure, she has embraced international education in her teaching, service and research.

May is Internal Audit Awareness Month
May is Internal Audit Awareness Month. During this observance and throughout the year, audit professionals work to raise awareness of the internal audit profession and its value to businesses and organizations.
The awareness efforts are not only to dispel misperceptions of the profession but also to enhance everyone’s knowledge of the essential role internal auditing plays in strong organizational governance, internal control and effective risk management.
