Reinken named University’s Title IX coordinator

Michelle Reinken has joined UNC Charlotte’s Division of Institutional Integrity as the University’s Title IX coordinator following a national search. She previously served as associate director of student conduct in the University’s Dean of Students Office.

As Title IX coordinator, Reinken will lead the Title IX Office in its mission to promote a safe and healthy campus environment through compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE).

Faculty/staff workshop about China scheduled

Faculty and staff members can register to attend “China Country-Culture Workshop,” scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 20.

Johnson needs shared leave

CHHS leads in COACHE survey participation

As of Monday, March 19, the College of Health and Human Services has the highest participation rate for the COACHE Faculty Satisfaction Survey with a nearly 41 percent response rate.

Retirement reception set for Ted Elling

Ted Elling, associate vice chancellor for research and systems development in the Division of Student Affairs, will retire on April 1 after 27 years of service.

A retirement reception in his honor will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, March 29, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons. 

Retirement reception scheduled for Nina Simmons

Nina Simmons, director of Student Activity Center and Venue Management, will retire from the University April 1 after 19 years of service.

A retirement reception in Simmons’ honor is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, March 26, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Northwest Concession Pod (Room 157). 

Faculty/staff social scheduled at Harris Alumni Center

Faculty and staff members can join colleagues for socializing and networking at a Faculty and Staff Social, which will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 12, at Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen.

Sponsored by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, the social will feature light hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. RSVPs requested.

Take time for a ‘paycheck checkup’

The federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act made changes to the tax law, including changing tax rates and brackets for employees. UNC Charlotte implemented the new tax tables with the Feb. 15 payroll.

Faculty judges needed for Undergraduate Research Conference

The 2018 Undergraduate Research Conference will be Friday, April 20, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

This conference is a university-wide showcase of research projects completed by undergraduate students of all levels from all colleges and departments.

Conference organizers are seeking faculty members to serve as judges for oral and poster presentation. Twenty volunteer judges are needed for oral presentations; 50 to 60 are sought to assess poster presentations.
