Preliminary feedback requested on IT assessment
Feedback is integral to large-scale decisions, and the chancellor recently requested it via a message to faculty and staff. Consultant BerryDunn’s preliminary findings from the university-wide IT Organizational Review are available. The report is preliminary since the Cabinet asked BerryDunn to provide more information on how their recommendations will affect distributed IT staff.
Using Duo to be required beginning January 2019
Effective Jan. 31, 2019, all University employees (full-time, part-time, adjunct faculty, student employees) will be required to use Duo two-factor authentication to access all University single sign-on systems. These include Gmail, NinerNet, Canvas and My UNC Charlotte.
ITS is investigating increasing the password reset time frame for those who use Duo, which significantly improves the security of University data.

ITS schedules brief outages of systems
Due to a planned building router software upgrade, several buildings, residential halls and parking lots will briefly (5-10 min.) lose access to all systems between 5 and 5:30 a.m. either Dec. 19, 20 or 21. This includes computers, phones, wired/wireless and the internet.
To minimize any inconvenience, the upgrades are scheduled well before normal working hours. The daily schedule is listed below. (Buildings not listed won’t be affected by the outage.)
