Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band heading to Normandy, follow the journey via live stream
On Thursday, May 31, the Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band embarks upon a trip that bridges the present with the past. They will travel to Normandy, France, to perform at the 74th annual commemoration of the D-Day invasion that liberated Europe.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to join in a celebratory send-off for the band, starting at 10:30 a.m., May 31, at the Johnson Band Center.

Art professors to discuss ‘Digital Dialogues’ on Friday webcast
Return to Inside UNC Charlotte on Friday, July 1, to watch a webcast featuring Thomas Schmidt, assistant professor of art, and Janet Williams, associate professor of art, as they discuss “Digital Dialogues,” two multimedia installations on display at the Projective Eye Gallery at UNC Charlotte Center City. This Inside UNC Charlotte webcast will be available starting at 9 a.m., July 1.

The city of Charlotte recently commissioned aerial photographs that document the progress of the 9.3 mile LYNX Blue Line Extension.

New website provides info in advance of light rail’s arrival
The extension of light rail from Center City to UNC Charlotte is scheduled to begin operations in summer 2017, with two stations serving the main campus. To prepare for this transformational event, the University has launched a new informational website.
Lightrail.charlotte.edu is a campus resource for students, faculty and staff on how the Blue Line Extension will connect the University to Center City and other points along the light rail route to its southern terminus.
University-produced video wins CASE’s Bronze Circle of Excellence
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education has recognized UNC Charlotte with an international Bronze Circle of Excellence Award in the news and research video category for a segment about the University’s archaeological excavation at Mount Zion.
Bojangles’ #RandomActsofBo campaign visited campus
UNC Charlotte was the location for a recently released Bojangles’ online commercial filmed on campus as part of the restaurant chain’s #RandomActsofBo campaign.
Filmed May 11 in the quad between the College of Health and Human Services and the College of Education, the video captures Bojangles’ volunteers surprising unsuspecting students with free chicken and tea during finals week.
Coordinating committee prepares for arrival of light rail
UNC Charlotte is a vibrant, expanding institution, and the University is making plans for another transformational jewel in its crown.
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) is an approximately nine-mile addition to the Queen City’s existing light rail service that will connect UNC Charlotte Center City and the main campus. There will be two stations that will provide service to the University.
