The Department of Dance will present a Spring Concert Thursday through Sunday, April 14-17, in the Belk Theater of the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts. Among the works on the program is “Suite Otis,” choreographed by the Tony Award-winning choreographer George Faison.

The College of Computing and Informatics recently received a Blue Diamond Award for being a top producer of IT talent.

CCI, nominated in the category of human capital, was honored for its Business Partners Program.

The Blue Diamond Awards are sponsored by CA Technologies, a Charlotte-based company that creates software that fuels transformation for global companies and enables them to seize opportunities of the application economy.

The final Belk Plaza forum will be 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, April 11, in the Cone University Center.  At this event, there will be a short presentation by key members of the LandDesign team to reveal the conceptual plan for the plaza’s transformation.

“Creative Abundance” is a documentary that examines services in place for individuals with developmental disabilities, usually in the form of vocational and rehabilitative workshops that often are sheltered from the public eye and from community interaction.

UNC Charlotte will host a free screening of the film at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.

Faculty and staff members are invited to join colleagues for socializing and networking at a Faculty and Staff Social, which will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, at Hauser Alumni Pavilion.

Sponsored by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, the social will feature light hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. Register to attend online.

April is Autism Awareness Month, and in commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day April 2, UNC Charlotte’s Dickson Gate, the campus’s main entrance, will be lighted blue as part of a global event to raise awareness of autism and celebrate individuals with autism for their unique talents and gifts.

Thousands of iconic landmarks, communities, businesses and homes across the globe united by shining bright blue lights in honor of the millions of individuals and families around the world with autism.

UNC Charlotte donors’ contributions have significant impact that benefit the campus; students recently acknowledged their efforts during “Green with Gratitude.”

The Counseling Center will sponsor talks at 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays, April 13 and 27, in the Student Union Movie Theatre.

Each event will feature two speakers with aspects of resiliency as a focus of the talks; these events are free to students, faculty, staff and the public. For students, these workshops are Wellness Passport events.

Through a partnership between UNC Charlotte and the Levine Museum of the New South, faculty, staff, students and alumni will be able to visit the museum for free Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, during the museum’s regular business hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Professor of Theatre Bruce Auerbach is the co-editor of the second edition of “Practical Projects for Teaching Lighting Design: A Compendium, Volume 2,” published by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology Inc. (USITT) in 2016.

The book, a collection of practical lab projects that can be used in a lighting class, was edited with Anne McMills and is a project of the USITT Lighting Design and Technology Commission. Auerbach was the sole editor of the first edition of the book, which was published in 1990.
