UNC Charlotte earns STARS Silver Rating for sustainability achievements
UNC Charlotte has earned a STARS Silver rating in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the Association of Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System, is the most widely recognized framework in the world for publicly reporting comprehensive information related to a college or university’s sustainability performance. Participants report achievements in five overall areas: academics, engagement, operations, planning and administration and innovation and leadership.
Senior Yuliana Ganan receives the 2022-23 Yvette M. Huet Sí Se Puede Scholarship
Yuliana Ganan, a rising senior, is the 2022-23 recipient of the Yvette M. Huet Sí Se Puede Scholarship. Awarded to a junior or senior undergraduate student who demonstrates a continued commitment to the growth, support and empowerment of Latinx communities, the scholarship is earmarked for those who share this commitment, honor the legacies of those who have come before and will chart new pathways for those to come.

Meet Joe Fiorelli
Joe Fiorelli joined the University five and a half years ago as the director of risk management and insurance. Learn about the unique aspects of his job, how his children bring joy to his life and his favorite summer activity in Charlotte: enjoying a popsicle and a beer.
How would you describe your role at UNC Charlotte?
I handle the operational side of risk management for the University, which includes areas such as insurance, youth protection, vehicle safety, drones and a few other areas.
Jennifer Troyer appointed interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs
Jennifer L. Troyer, dean of the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and professor of economics, has been appointed interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Her appointment is effective immediately and will continue until the position is filled permanently.
Troyer has been with the University since 1999, beginning as an assistant professor before being named dean in July 2020.
