Two 49ers drafted by NFL, a third signs as a free agent

Charlotte 49ers Alex Highsmith and Cameron Clark were selected in the third and fourth rounds of the NFL Draft, respectively. Highsmith, a defensive end, was picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Clark, an offensive lineman, by the New York Jets.Running back Bennie LeMay signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent.

Virtual remembrance to mark first anniversary of April 30, 2019

As the first anniversary of last year’s campus shooting approaches, UNC Charlotte has planned a virtual remembrance to honor Reed Parlier and Riley Howell, who lost their lives, the four students injured and all those affected.

COA+A launches virtual gallery

The College of Arts + Architecture has launched a virtual gallery to  celebrate graduating seniors in applied art.The first exhibitions, featuring work by illustration majors, opened on April 20. Other exhibitions feature work by students majoring in graphic design and 2-D and 3-D studio art. All exhibitions will remain online through the summer.

Students recognized for service, leadership and academics

Eleven outstanding students were recently honored at the annual University Honor and Awards Ceremony, held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.One of the most prestigious awards, the Bonnie E. Cone Leadership Award, is presented to a member of the graduating class whose leadership, scholarship and service to the University embodies the spirit of Cone, who devoted her life to the development of UNC Charlotte.
