UNC Charlotte’s Center for Graduate Life and Learning is now the Thomas L. Reynolds Center for Graduate Life and Learning in recognition and honor of Tom Reynolds, associate provost for graduate programs and dean of the Graduate School. The naming took place during a special ceremony at the center in Atkins Library Thursday, Dec.15. 

In fall 2021, the University announced it would launch a review of the structure of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. A committee led by Belk College of Business Dean Jennifer Troyer assessed the pros and cons of maintaining a single college or reorganizing departments into smaller colleges.

To support the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus and in the Charlotte region, UNC Charlotte is aligning its educational and outreach efforts through the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17, UNC Charlotte will hold Fall Commencement ceremonies for 2022 graduates in Dale F. Halton Arena.

Newsweek has ranked UNC Charlotte No. 18 on its student-focused list of America’s Top Online Colleges for 2023.

Terry Shirley Jr. and Adriana Medina are this year’s recipients of the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence and the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence.

There are 525,600 minutes in a year. Multiplied by 19, you get nearly 10 million. That’s how many minutes Joan Lorden has spent on the job as UNC Charlotte’s provost and chief academic officer.

UNC Charlotte is partnering with online open course provider Coursera to offer students free access to Grow with Google career certificates. Certificate programs in digital marketing and ecommerce, IT support, data analytics, project management and UX design will be available to supplement coursework in academic programs as well as give Charlotte students a competitive workforce advantage.

The 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings show the University rising 25 spots overall and again placing No. 3 among UNC System institutions.

In the recently released 2023 Times Higher Education World University rankings, Charlotte climbed 33 spots among U.S. universities.
