Malin Pereira has been appointed dean of the Honors College, effective July 1. She currently serves as executive director of the college. The creation of a new deanship and change in reporting structure recognizes the role of honors programming in the University’s strategic plan, as the college’s goal is to recruit, nurture and retain world-class, diverse undergraduates to the University.

UNC Charlotte recycles nearly 300 laptops a year, and the University’s OneIT team looked for an organization to partner to get these computers to local families in need. As a result, these laptops are being refurbished and re-imaged by high school students and are redistributed to families in Mecklenburg County, thanks to E2D, a Charlotte-based nonprofit organization.

Important updates on Commencement ceremonies

The University has been closely monitoring the weather forecast for Friday and Saturday, May 13-14. Because we want to be able to celebrate our graduates’ accomplishments, we will move forward with the outdoor Commencement ceremonies as scheduled. However, in consideration of the forecast for the possibility of widespread rain both days, we will shorten the length of the ceremonies with a focus on what is most important — ensuring our graduates have the ability to walk across the stage. We continue to receive questions about moving the ceremonies to Halton Arena.
