UNC Charlotte receives Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award
UNC Charlotte’s J. Murrey Atkins Library has received the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine. The LEAD Award honors academic libraries’ programs and initiatives that encourage and support diversity, equity and inclusion across their campuses. These include, but are not limited to, research, technology, accessibility, exhibitions and community outreach.
Registrations open for spring data conferences
Registration is underway for the Women in Data Science and Analytics Frontiers conferences. The UNC Charlotte School of Data Science hosts these annual events.
The Women in Data Science Conference, scheduled for Thursday, March 21, will be at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The 10th annual Analytics Frontiers Conference will be at the Charlotte Convention Center Tuesday, April 16.
Cindy Gilson appointed associate dean of the Honors College
Cindy Gilson has been appointed associate dean of the Honors College, effective July 1. Gilson will manage the day-to-day functions of the University Honors Program — the largest honors program on campus. She will oversee the curriculum, course offerings, programming, advising and instructional budget of the Honors College as well as work with honors program directors across campus.
‘An Evening with Harvey Gantt’ headlines Niner Nation King Week 2024
On Thursday, Jan. 18, from 5 to 6 p.m., UNC Charlotte will welcome distinguished Charlotte architect, civil rights leader and public servant Harvey B. Gantt as its featured guest for Niner Nation King Week’s signature event.

UNC Charlotte is now part of the National Science Foundation I-Corps Hub Mid-Atlantic Region, a network of 11 universities that helps researchers translate inventions to the marketplace.
Congratulations, 2023 Fall Commencement graduates
UNC Charlotte conferred more than 3,800 undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees and graduate certificates during 2023 Fall Commencement ceremonies held in Dale F. Halton Arena Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15-16.
School of Professional Studies holds online learning symposium
The UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies recently convened the inaugural Leading the Change: Charlotte Symposium on Online Learning and Beyond. Online learning leaders and advocates across UNC Charlotte discussed ways to best prepare the University for the growing demand from students for high-quality online programs.
The event provided a platform to share successes, exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and envision the exciting path ahead for Charlotte online.
