Preliminary feedback requested on IT assessment
Feedback is integral to large-scale decisions, and the chancellor recently requested it via a message to faculty and staff. Consultant BerryDunn’s preliminary findings from the university-wide IT Organizational Review are available. The report is preliminary since the Cabinet asked BerryDunn to provide more information on how their recommendations will affect distributed IT staff.
Members sought for award selection committee
A new faculty honor, the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence, will be presented for the first time in fall 2019 in conjunction with the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence.
Five finalists announced for University’s top teaching award
Robert Cox, Celine Latulipe, Heather Perry, Drew Polly and Tony Schmitz are the 2018 finalists for the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence, one of UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious honors.
Full professors receive Jefferson Cup, other faculty recognized at Convocation
At this year’s University Convocation, Provost Joan Lorden recognized faculty members promoted to full professor. She and Faculty President Richard Leeman presented each a Jefferson Cup, originally designed by Thomas Jefferson. The cup is engraved with the UNC Charlotte logo, the faculty member’s name and the year recognized.
New teaching award to recognize non-tenure track faculty, CTL continues to provide innovative support
With the establishment of the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence, starting in fall 2019, the University continues to demonstrate the important role that non-tenure track faculty realize in advancing the teaching mission of the institution.

UNC Charlotte is one of five exemplary colleges and universities nationwide to receive the Excellence in Assessment designation.
This distinction recognizes the University’s “commitment to the comprehensive assessment of student learning outcomes as a means to drive internal improvement and advance student success at the institution level.”
Reminder about the Research Integrity Office
The Research Integrity Office is part of a comprehensive research misconduct program at UNC Charlotte that includes policies, education, investigation and enforcement. The office is responsible for investigating allegations of plagiarism, falsification and fabrication of research materials.
Salas receives Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award
Consuelo Salas is the 2018 recipient of the J. Murrey Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award. An assistant professor with the University Writing Program and the Department of English, Salas will be honored during a library social and award ceremony, scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Halton Reading Room.
The Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award is presented to a UNC Charlotte faculty member who has engaged in innovative or exceptional work with library collections, programs and services. It comes with a $2,500 allocation for professional development.
