Apply for Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund grants

The Council on University Community is accepting proposals for the Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund, which supports initiatives that promote the daily value of diversity in the intellectual life of the campus. Faculty, staff or students are eligible to apply for awards of up to $5,000.

Trans Studies Reading Group to explore ‘Normal Life’

The UNC Charlotte LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus has formed a Trans Studies Reading Group, which will discuss Dean Spade’s “Normal Life.”

This group is open to all UNC Charlotte students, staff, and faculty; space is limited. Email Elisabeth Paquette (epaquet1@uncc.edu).

The reading group will explore Spade’s work in two meetings (5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 15 and March 15).

Trans Studies Reading Group to explore ‘Normal Life’

Priority Camps on Campus registration for employees

Camps on Campus is the University’s summer programs of academic enrichment camps for children and young people in rising grades one through 12.

UNC Charlotte faculty and staff members will be able to register their children before the public starting at 8 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, by calling 704-687-8900. A valid UNC Charlotte ID is required. Click here to view this year’s schedule of offerings.

Public registration will open at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Code of Student Responsibility policy revised

University Policy 406, The Code of Student Responsibility, was revised to account for recent changes in the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) guidance regarding Title IX cases.

Venturprise accepting applications for NSF I-Corps cohort

Ventureprise Inc. is now accepting applications from UNC Charlotte teams for the spring 2018 I-Corps cohort. The program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), helps participants bridge academic and entrepreneurial knowledge.

New student tab in My UNC Charlotte

Effective Jan. 3, there is a new student tab in My UNC Charlotte. This more personalized tab compiles data from Banner, Canvas and Gmail onto one screen, which means fewer clicks for students to view information.

ITS schedules brief outages of systems

Due to a planned building router software upgrade, several buildings, residential halls and parking lots will briefly (5-10 min.) lose access to all systems between 5 and 5:30 a.m. either Dec. 19, 20 or 21. This includes computers, phones, wired/wireless and the internet.

To minimize any inconvenience, the upgrades are scheduled well before normal working hours.  The daily schedule is listed below. (Buildings not listed won’t be affected by the outage.)
