Green Tie Gala 2019: An Evening Under the Stars
The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association will host its annual Green Tie Gala on Friday, April 5, at The Westin Charlotte. This event raises funds to support student scholarships while offering an evening of fun for all alumni and friends of UNC Charlotte.

CoA+A faculty, alums receive Arts & Science Council grants
Five faculty and five alumni of the College of Arts + Architecture (CoA+A) are recipients of 2019 Regional Artists Project Grants given by the Arts & Science Council. These grants provide funding to artists for professional development and technical assistance.

UNC Charlotte alumna DeAndrea Salvador ’13 is one of 33 business school graduates honored by AACSB International (AACSB)—the world’s largest business education alliance—in the 2019 Class of Influential Leaders.

New scholarship honors COA+A’s founding dean
A group of architecture alumni have established a new scholarship endowment for the College of Arts + Architecture (CoA+A) in honor of founding dean Ken Lambla.
CoA+A Interim Dean Lee Gray and Jim Williams of Little Diversified Architectural Consulting joined 14 alumni to raise $60,000 for the Ken Lambla Scholarship Endowment.
Beginning in 2021, the endowment will fund an annual scholarship for an architecture major who enrolls in at least one course in the visual or performing arts.
Theatre alum wins Burman New Play Award
Stacey Rose ’08 received the inaugural Bonnie and Terry Burman New Play Award, through a national contest at Barrington Stage Company in Massachusetts. Rose, whose play was chosen from nearly 500 submissions, will receive $25,000 and a production of her play at Barrington Stage.
Rose’s winning play, “America v. 2.1: The Sad Demise & Eventual Extinction of the American Negro,” is set on a day in the near future, in which a troupe of black actors reenact a revised history of the “once-thriving American Negro.”

Call for alumni award nominations
The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association is actively seeking nominations for its 2019 awards class. The deadline to submit a nomination for this year is Friday, Jan. 25.
