University hosting first- and second-round games for NCAA Women’s Tournament
UNC Charlotte, in conjunction with the University of South Carolina, will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Halton Arena:

Woodiel joins Charlotte 49ers football coaching staff
Cody Woodiel has been hired as the Charlotte 49ers football tight ends coach. He was an offensive graduate assistant at the University of Oregon for the past two years and has seven years of coaching experience.
Prior to Oregon, the Troy University alumnus coached at Itawamba Community College in Mississippi and at his alma mater. Woodiel, who played tackle, guard and tight end in college, has coached with the offensive line at each of his stops.

After Senior Bowl, NFL Combine next up for Nate Davis
Charlotte 49ers four-year starting offensive lineman Nate Davis will be headed to the NFL Combine, Feb. 26 to March 4. Davis, who earned all-Conference USA recognition for each of the last three years, participated in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in January and has been earning strong reviews from NFL teams.
“Going to the Senior Bowl was definitely a blessing,” Davis said. “To go against great competition and learn some tools. It wasn’t just drills and practice but also interviews and meetings. That should help me at the Combine to be ready for the rigors.”
Montario Hardesty named 49ers football wide receivers coach
Montario Hardesty has joined the Charlotte 49ers coaching staff as wide receivers coach. Hardesty, who spent the 2018 season as an offensive quality control coach at his alma mater, Tennessee, played professionally as a running back with the Cleveland Browns. Following his playing days, his coaching career included stints at Norfolk State, Florida Atlantic and Tennessee.

Charlotte 49ers 2019 football schedule released, season tickets on sale
The Charlotte 49ers 2019 football schedule includes six contests against 2018 bowl teams, including a trip to National Champion Clemson. The 49ers’ 12-game slate includes six home games and six road games with four non-conference matchups and eight Conference USA contests.
Charlotte will play all six C-USA East Division opponents and two cross-over games against West Division foes under first-year head coach Will Healy.
Dawkins, West join football coaching staff
Charlotte 49ers first-year head football coach Will Healy continued to fill out his coaching staff with the announcement of Marcus West as the program’s assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator and Sean Dawkins as run-game coordinator and running backs coach. West served as defensive line coach for the Minnesota Gophers this past year while Dawkins was running backs coach at Troy.
