Levine Scholars Program staff member honored for promoting inclusion and access

Abey T. Dessie, associate director of UNC Charlotte’s Levine Scholars Program, recently received the Myron G. Burney Award for Inclusion and Access. This honor, presented annually by the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling, recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on the field of college admission counseling, with a focus on promoting inclusion and access.

Excellence in Leadership Awards presented to six alumni

Excellence in Leadership Awards were bestowed upon six outstanding alumni, Toya Corbett ’97, Trinisha Dean ’06, ’13, ’14 M.A., Marsaynee Attia ’05, ’08 M.S., Boris Rogers ’06, Tchernavia Montgomery ’08, ’09 M.S.W. and Rose Brown ’17, at a campus luncheon.

Communications studies professor earns PRSA lifetime achievement award

UNC Charlotte’s Dean Kruckeberg, a professor of  communication studies, has earned the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Gold Anvil Award, the organization’s highest honor for lifetime achievement.

UNC Charlotte receives award for air compliance excellence

 UNC Charlotte recently received an ACE Award for ongoing air compliance excellence by the Mecklenburg County Air Quality. Charlotte met all terms of its air quality permit for an entire year including on-time submission of reports, notifications and fee payments; completion of required emissions testing; a compliant annual inspection; and no notices of violation or nuisance dust/odor complaints to earn the recognition.

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) has named UNC Charlotte among its 2021 winners of its Excellence and Innovation Awards in recognition of the University’s response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
