Provost recognizes excellence in teaching, advising and community engagement

The Provost Awards, presented each year, recognize faculty and academic units for exemplary work in the areas of teaching, advising and community engagement. These three areas remain vital to UNC Charlotte’s mission to educate and prepare students for chosen careers and to address community needs in the greater Charlotte region.

Nominations sought for 2020 First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal

The Graduate School is seeking nominations for the 2020 First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal. This honor, awarded since 1988, recognizes outstanding scholarship, creativity and/or research among senior full-time faculty members. Nominations may come from any UNC Charlotte faculty member. 

Webb, Marshall named 2019 University Teaching Excellence Award winners

Each fall, UNC Charlotte recognizes those faculty members who are exemplary educators through the University Teaching Excellence Awards. Jennifer Webb and Thomas Marshall are the 2019 recipients of the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence and the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence, respectively.

Dance professor wins Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award

Kaustavi Sarkar, assistant professor of dance, is the recipient of the 2019 J. Murrey Atkins Library Faculty Engagement Award. 

CHHS dean honored by alma mater

Catrine Tudor-Locke, dean of the UNC Charlotte College of Health and Human Services, was named the 2019 Alumna of the Year by the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.

UNC Charlotte to recognize teaching excellence

Outstanding faculty members whose talents have a positive impact on UNC Charlotte’s learning environment are recognized each fall. This year, the University will acknowledge faculty through the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence and the inaugural UNC Charlotte Teaching Excellence Award.

UNC Charlotte selected for prestigious Millennium Fellows program

For the first time, UNC Charlotte will be a campus hub for the highly prestigious Millennium Fellowship program, with 20 undergraduates from across the University chosen to implement the program’s LIFE Skills Initiative with area high school students.

Architecture team wins honorable mention in international competition

A team of architecture students, led by School of Architecture faculty members Chris Jarrett and Peter Wong, has received an Honorable Mention in the 2019 Timber in the City: Urban Habitats Competition presented by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA).

Housing and Residence Life recognized for diversity/inclusion efforts

UNC Charlotte’s Office of Housing and Residence Life recently received the inaugural Assessment and Impact Award presented by Skyfactor Benchworks at the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International Conference and Expo in Toronto, Canada.

Skyfactor Benchworks, which provides student affairs and academic assessments to colleges and universities, praised the University’s Housing and Residence Life (HRL) team for its educational programming on issues of diversity and inclusion.

Harris named Google Cloud Academic all-America

Charlotte 49ers senior first baseman Meredith Harris was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Softball Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America Softball Team celebrates the nation’s top players for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.
