The Turner School of Accountancy has surpassed its fundraising goal, raising more than $5.2 million in gifts and commitments from more than 285 donors.

Wesley Sweigart and Katie Warlick recently received the Elijah Watt Sells Award in recognition of their cumulative score across all fours sections of the Certified Public Accounting Examination.

As part of Homecoming celebrations, the Belk College of Business honored four alumni and friends for their accomplishments, service and dedication to the college.

The UNC Charlotte Belk College Alumni Awards recognize alumni and advocates who have demonstrated leadership and outstanding career achievements and enhanced the mission of the college. The Childress Klein Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte is launching a five-year research project, the State of Housing in Charlotte, to provide policymakers, real estate professionals and the general public a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of the housing markets in the Charlotte metropolitan area.

The U.S. and North Carolina economies continue to accelerate, yet international trade could be entering a caution zone, says UNC Charlotte professor and economist John Connaughton.

“Detecting colorectal cancer early can save health care costs and lives,” said Jennifer Troyer, health economist at UNC Charlotte and interim dean of the College of Health and Human Services. Through a grant from the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, Troyer worked with researchers at Wake Forest University, UNC Chapel Hill and University of Texas to examine how digital technology can be used to increase the likelihood that patients order a colorectal screening procedure.

The North Carolina economy continues to grow with positive indicators including housing prices and the Consumer Confidence Index, UNC Charlotte professor and economist John Connaughton said at a Mid-Year Economic Update Tuesday, June 5. He stated the country is now in the second-longest economic expansion since 1854. This economic expansion has been underway for 108 months, as of early June 2018.

Two UNC Charlotte alums are racing in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and competed in Saturday’s Alsco 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
