University welcomes new employees

Purchasing policy revised

On Aug.28, University Policy 601.11 Purchasing Policy was revised to provide clarifying language and to address some substantive changes such as a change in the Federal Uniform Guidance threshold for bidding.

Policy on acquisition and disposition of gift and grant property revised

On Aug. 28, University Policy 601.12 Acquisition and Disposition of Gift and Grant Property was rewritten and revised to add substantial information including definitions, procedures and roles and responsibilities.

Control of University property policy revised

On Aug. 28, University Policy 601.15 Control and Management of University Equipment and Other Property and its supplemental procedures were revised. The revisions reflect changes to various Fixed Asset processes and procedures associated with the following:new accounting regulations as pronounced by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)changes to State policiesinternal changes such as the implementation of Fixed Asset e-forms (which replaced paper-based forms)

External professional activities policy revised

On Aug.28, University Policy 102.1 External Professional Activities of Faculty and Other Professional Staff was revised to clarify requirements regarding external professional activities including teaching, research and contract work conducted by nine-month faculty or other University employees, including during the summer period. 

Simmons needs shared leave

Keenan Simmons, Popp Martin Student Union, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Sept. 10.To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Temporary closure of sidewalks on east side of Cameron Boulevard

Sidewalks at the northeast corner of the intersection of Cameron Boulevard and Craver Road will be closed from Tuesday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Aug. 30, to install new sidewalks as part of the University Recreation Center project.Detour signs will be posted to direct pedestrians to the west side of Cameron Boulevard between the Union Deck and Craver Road.

Complimentary faculty/staff tickets available for first football game

Football season is nearly here, and the Charlotte 49ers want faculty and staff to celebrate the start of the season with free tickets to the first Thursday night game in the program’s history. The 49ers will take on Gardner-Webb University at 7:30 p.m., Aug. 29, in Jerry Richardson Stadium. Athletics Director Mike Hill invites faculty and staff to watch the 49ers play under new Head Coach Will Healy and demonstrate that “We are all Niners.”

Register for the Chancellor’s Fishing Derby

The fall semester is underway, which means the Chancellor’s Fishing Derby is coming up. This year’s event is set for Saturday, Sept. 14, at Hechenbleikner Lake.This family-friendly event is open to faculty and staff members and their guests. Two 75-minute sessions will be held with check-in starting at 8 a.m.Details on the derby are:
