UNC Charlotte Chancellor’s Professor Steven Rogelberg is the 2019 recipient of the First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal, UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious faculty award in recognition of excellence in research.

The U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 list of Best Graduate Schools rankings are out, and once again, UNC Charlotte recorded a number of superlatives.

Richard Lambert, professor of educational leadership in the Cato College of Education, is the 2019 recipient of the Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award.

The multidisciplinary design firm LandDesign is sponsoring a class this semester in the Master of Urban Design program to study digital placemaking. Led by Professor Deb Ryan, students in “Dilemmas in Modern City Planning: Digital Technology and Urban Activation” will work with LandDesign team members to explore the impact of technology on the design of public space.

The Thomas L. Reynolds Leadership Award will be bestowed for the first time this spring; the award will honor excellence in graduate program administration and will be presented annually to a graduate program director (GPD) or graduate program coordinator (GPC). Recipients will be selected by a committee of graduate faculty and students. The award recipient will receive $1,000 and an engraved plaque and will have his or her name engraved on a perpetual trophy.

Erin Vinoski Thomas, a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in the UNC Charlotte Department of Public Health Sciences, received the National Association of County and City Health Departments’ (NACCHO) 2018-19 Health and Disability Fellowship.

Matthew Gropp and Julia Signorelli recently received the Graduate School’s Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award.

The Master’s Thesis Award goes annually to a student nominated by faculty for the quality of their thesis work.  This year’s award applies to students who completed their master’s degree requirements and thesis between fall 2016 and summer 2018. Recipients receive a plaque and cash prize.

Xueying Brown and Donna Goodenow emerged as UNC Charlotte’s best graduate presenters at the 2018 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held recently at Atkins Library.

Graduate students at UNC Charlotte are learning how to boil down extensive and complex research or scholarship into a brief, compelling presentation that anyone can understand – especially the boss. In November each year, students take what they’ve learned to the stage in the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.

Krystal Turner, a graduate assistant in the Graduate School, recently participated in the annual conference of the Association of Play Therapy (APT) in Phoenix where she helped promote graduate education at UNC Charlotte and presented the research project “Child/Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) for Adoptive Families: Parents’ Lived Experiences.”
