Tony Schmitz from the William States Lee College of Engineering is one of the 17 recipients of the UNC Board of Governors Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
Psychological Science’s Eric Heggestad named SIOP Fellow
For his outstanding contributions to industrial and organizational psychology, UNC Charlotte Psychological Science Department Chair Eric Heggestad has been named a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
Heggestad was one of 20 distinguished industrial-organizational psychologists afforded this status at SIOP’s 34th annual conference.
Chancellor among Most Admired CEOs in Charlotte
Chancellor Philip L. Dubois recently accepted an award from the Charlotte Business Journal as one of the area’s Most Admired CEOs. He was one of two recipients in the education category. In total, the business publication recognized 35 local leaders in 18 industry categories, including trustee Susan DeVore ’81 of Premier Inc.
Organizational science researcher receives First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal
UNC Charlotte Chancellor’s Professor Steven Rogelberg is the 2019 recipient of the First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal, UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious faculty award in recognition of excellence in research.
Art professors win summer residency in Tasmania
Maja Godlewska and Marek Ranis, faculty members in the Department of Art & Art History, are the 2019 University of Tasmania Cradle Coast Campus Artists in Residence. They will travel to Tasmania in May to begin their project, “Landscape: A Place Remembered and Imagined.”
Four staff members honored as employees of the year
Four UNC Charlotte staff members were designated 2019 Employees of the Year, and 325 employees were recognized for achieving milestone anniversaries for their years of service with the state of North Carolina, during a dessert reception Wednesday, March 27, in the Popp Martin Student Union.
Jeffrey Leak named American Council on Education Fellow
UNC Charlotte professor Jeffrey Leak has been named an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow for the 2019-20 academic year. He is one of 39 individuals selected nationwide for this prestigious professional development opportunity.

Lisa Lewis Dubois is among the newest inductees of the Women’s History Hall of Fame. The honor recognizes women in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region who have made significant contributions civically, socially and politically.
